"Adam has created two wonderful photorealistic paintings of my two eldest sons. On both occasions Adam came to our home, developed a good  rapport with the boys and took several photos. The best of which he transformed into amazing paintings. I would recommend him to anyone."   - Dr Paul McGrane,             Fife

"It is an absolute privilege to have Adam's artwork in our home. He has produced what is not only a beautiful portrait of our daughter, Isabel, but something with ethereal beauty that captures so much of her personality. I can't imagine a day that I will ever tire of looking at it and I can't thank Adam enough for his hard work, vision and talent." - Stephanie Maia, Edinburgh.

Source of Reference Photography

I ideally use a one hour long photo session, taking many photographs for reference. This allows me to capture the sitter with a lively expression at a defining moment. The way I photograph is guided by my sensitivities as a painter, observer of people and my eight years experience painting commissioned portraits. In principle the only cost for photography would be travel expenses, I do not charge anything extra for the session, as that is part of the commission.

Photos provided by the Client

I have in the past, also painted successful portraits that are derived from photo’s provided by the client. Although it is important to understand, I do not work from photographs that are too low in quality (dpi) or do not suit my style. It is purely a matter of instinct! If I like the photo you have provided and I think it will make a good painting, we can proceed.
